Working towards sanctuary at my home, in my gardens, and in my head. Come on in!
I'm in Maine. 🌲
I saw the videos.
I know the truth.
I know it was murder.

Democracy is not a spectator sport. If we cherish our country we must act to preserve it.

Call your reps, attend town halls, vote, help your neighbors.

2025 was a horror. We must reclaim what is ours in 2026.

One thing I’m so thankful for this year: everyone at the Thanksgiving table has the same political views that I do. No need to tiptoe around topics, or pay inordinate attention to the cranberry relish. A luxury that’s both inspiring and a lot sad. I wish our tables could be larger.

Once again, I have to be out of my home state for No Kings 🥺 but this time I’m packing our protest signs in the car. When we pass a rally, I’ll be ready to hang outside the passenger window with a sign, a thumbs up, and my loudest WHOO HOO!

Photos from yesterday’s rally in Wiscasset, Maine. Every day, our numbers grow! Well over 400 hollering and smiling in the chilly weather. Overwhelmingly positive response from passing cars.

We made signs for our local protest today. A few hundred people—not bad for a small village in 7-degree wind chill!

A neighbor suggested that the tariff wibble-wobbles was crafted to give the rich an easy way to buy low and sell high. Fact? Or understandable paranoia?

Was this retaliation for Governor Mills’ pushback on Trump, or another attempt at distracting the populace, or coincidence ? Would love to hear the behind-the-scenes story of this:

5 things I did last week:

1. I called my reps to demand that they fight back.
2. I called senator King to thank him.
3. I called Gov Mills to thank her.
4. I hosted a party for friends to remind ourselves how strong we are. And to eat pizza and cake.
5. I took care of my ducks.

This is written by the Episcopal Bishop of Washington, who called on Trump to act with mercy towards the vulnerable. I began reading early this morning. It is written well and with clarity, about the immensely profound way we all make decisions and handle the outcomes. Pass it on.

This is Twig, an Indian Runner duck, and Pollen, a Buff duck. They are managing well in our wintery weather. And they distract me from the news.
