And as always, there is a straight line from the stealing of indigenous land, homesteading, then small homesteading on platted single family lots, then racist zoning and redlining to Tree Action trying to preserve individual scattered trees amongst a hellscape/lava pit of car centric sprawl.

We need complete *ecologies*. We DO need to urgently preserve and reclaim contiguous forestland, wetland, floodplains, and habitat.

We do not need to block housing, transit, and sidewalks in an URBAN CORE to preserve single trees on suburban-style lots that were last clear cut within our lifetime.

All they need to do is step aside and let junior planners — who aren’t retiring into multimillion Bainbridge or View Ridge real estate — plan the future of the city they’re going to live in for the next 50 years

I’m sure all of them are eager to.

Like you and I probably very much disagree on what % of the housing crisis is solvable through supply

But these people just don’t aesthetically even want any

When I hear these people talk I am never sure whether a) they’ve never bothered to experience a large Asian metropolis or b) have experienced them and considered the lifestyle that most of humanity live in inferior living, somehow
And I’m also never sure if a) or b) is worse for a city planner

I cannot get behind the type of nice who says things like “adding highrises to urban neighborhoods is pretty drastic” or that you need “gradual” transitions between different types of zones

Having listened to *way too many hours* of Quirindongo and Hubner on comp plan presentations, intentional and malicious slow-walking would not at all be a surprise
