Caught myself thinking that maybe I should delay some annual leave to help out because there's multiple crises at work and several people on long term sick.

But none of that is actually my problem, that's the company's problem.

Don't exhaust yourself because they don't employ enough people.

Yeah, me too, but we're reasonable people.

For these types the more outlandish the claim the better. It makes agreeing with it a signifier of loyalty to the in-group. Like 'giving your neighbour stew is a consent violation'.

Everyone knows that's dumb. Pretending otherwise lets you in the clique.

There was a Victorian explorer who said in parliament "If Her Majesty wishes to see somewhere distastefully foreign, she need not travel as far as I, she need only go so far as Wales."

I feel like that attitude has never died, and that's why the UK has always been a failure of a project.

I think yall should do a little reading on how Mastodon works before we talk about migrating, because from what I can see Instance Owners (think like Subreddit mods) can see:

* Your email
* Your DMs
* Your IP

you cannot convince me that someone who is essentially a mod can be trusted with that

Right, so this is the disconnect. Fundamentally you are wrong about the terminology being used.

Hierarchical power structures do not in fact require centralisation. They often do, but hierarchy can still exist in decentralised structures where (e.g.) the majority exerts power over the minority.

It’s really hard to describe to people who are not artists how survival mode does *not* inspire creativity, as the myth would have us believe. It suppresses creativity as you try to limit every possible risk – and the opportunities that come with them.

Sophia's analysis is generally on point. I went back as far as the post where you were confused by the phrase 'decentralised hierarchy' even though she also explained right there what the term means.

I think you need to read her posts more closely and maybe google unfamiliar terminology.
