As @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social said as he concluded his speech: “We’re going to press on until victory is won.”

Grateful to all the Congressional Staff who worked tirelessly to try to make this bill at least a little less bad. Your work mattered. The road ahead is long. The only way through is together.

This bill will make us all sicker, poorer, less safe, and less free.

? The head of CEQ under Biden was a woman Brenda Mallory. May be it was the head of the Permitting Council Eric Beightel?

As today is World Octopus Day I’ll again mention that a Spanish equivalent to “like a fish out of water” is como un pulpo en un garaje. It means “like an octopus in a garage.”

If appropriations bills are not seen as enforceable contracts, why should any Member of Congress vote to fund any part of the federal government under Donald Trump? You're voting to provide money for lawlessness. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/there-is-n...
There is no budget "deal" to be made
President Trump has so broken the constitutional framework as to make joint normal, responsible government impossible.

"There’s a battle underway to win the energy export market between the world’s two largest economies: The US wants the world to buy its fossil fuels, while China wants to sell the world its clean energy technologies. For now, there is a clear winner: China." - Akshat Rathi

If U.S. states have any degree of sovereignty, if there’s any states’ rights at all, it is the right not to be invaded by the armed forces of another U.S. state.

China has exported $120 billion in green technology for the year-to-date. The US, which has positioned itself as a major fossil fuel exporter, has only sold $80 billion in oil and gas abroad.
China Is Beating the US in the Battle for Energy Export Dominance
China’s exports of clean energy technology hit a record in August, with $20 billion shipped globally.

"You have it in your power to make a difference. Don't give up. There is a future for you. Do your best while you’re still on this beautiful Planet Earth that I look down upon from where I am now."

Those were Dr. Jane's last words, as released by Netflix.

Jane taught us that every day we live, we make an impact. The choice is ours as to what kind of impact it will be.

Her life proved that one person, rooted in compassion and sustained by hope, can change the world. Now it is up to us to carry that light forward—not as a farewell, but as a promise.

Man’s harmony with nature is a feature in the US’s National Environmental Policy Act (passed by Congress in Dec 1969, signed into law in Jan 1970) so I was guessing this might be a supportive oped for action on it.

The federal government shut-down was preceded by a "shed-down" as the DOGE dudes' downsizing debacle shed 11,729 workers from DOI land management agencies. The NPS alone lost over 1/3 of its workforce before shutdown!

The shut-down is thus a continuation of the shed-down. Shame on Trumplicans!

This was a powerful speech by Pope Leo which built on Pope Francis’ teaching legacy.
He criticised those who “have chosen to deride the increasingly evident signs of climate change, to ridicule those who speak of global warming”.
It was a privilege to be in the room. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

In his first major statement on climate change, the pontiff criticises those who minimise climate change.
