Buddy Holly’s demo for Peggy Sue Got Married - recorded in his Greenwich Village apartment a month before his death - is one of the purest things I’ve ever heard. Brings me so much joy. youtu.be/wN5IMsy2glY?...

Finn has: love for the band, the skills really play the music, the acting talent, the right source material, and maybe enough clout to get it done. I'm pumped.

The man himself! Neal was a master with brush and/or pen (Gillott nib).

I LOVE how the face is rendered in a simple, Golden-Age style, contrasting with the more realistic rendering of the body. Intentional or a fluke of the deadline crunch? I dunno, but it's great!

In 1971, a 30-year-old Neal Adams sat down to crank out a Superman cover for Julie Schwartz. Took him an hour or so. It became one of the most iconic comic book covers of all time. Coming up at Heritage soon. Might be a million dollar piece.

The first viewing of a film for which you have high expectations is always a challenge, but OBAA is legit. God bless PTA for casting the great Jim Downey, and for giving him one of the funniest, most shocking one-liners of all time.

A simple, time-tested formula: GOP hands billionaires more billions in exchange for continued power/wealth, and sucker non-billionaires into voting for more of the same with ginned up outrage over gay marriage/trans rights/flag burning/non-white people existing, etc.

Pathetic that it still works.

Bryson is a tool and the American crowd sucks about as much as the American team.

I considered telling the whole story, but you really don’t need it.

God I love watching the Tigers choke. Keep it up, dummies!

So, why didn't this film open the door to more such standard Hollywood fare from Welles? I suspect it's because he just wasn't wired that way. As he said himself, he was born a maverick, and changing that rebel streak would have been poisonous to him as an artist.

So, he stuck it out, his way.

Watching Orson Welles' The Stranger on TCM. Welles made it to prove to the studios that he didn't glow in the dark. That he could stand there are yell action and cut like the other hacks. Still, he made a very effective, well-acted thriller, and it's the only movie of his to be instantly profitable.
