If you are still awake, take a moment you look up at the moon. Currently untroubled by living humans. Still a place of ghosts, gods and 20th century wreckage.

And so back to Greenwich by water, and there while something is dressing for our dinner, Sir William and I walked into the Park, where the King hath planted trees and made steps in the hill up to the Castle, which is very magnificent.

Whilst storms 🌪️ rage on the west coast, here's an incredible Samian vessel from Aquae Sulis - Roman Bath - to start the week.

It depicts two gladiators locked in combat ⚔️🛡️😮

An incredible survival & on display in the Roman Baths museum

Really exciting new archaeology report showing that two people who died in 7th century Kent had West African grandfathers. It’s suggested they’d travelled here as traders and settled thanks to the Byzantine Empire’s trade network that linked North Africa to Britain

This week's #AlphabetChallenge is #WeekGforGlass so please enjoy the only known depiction of Roman glass blowing, on an oil lamp.

Three have been found: in Asseria, Ferrara and Spodnje Skofije.
A Roman oil lamp. The image on the lamp is rather naive, but clearly shows two people, one sat each side of a glass furnace. The character on the right is blowing into a tube with a glass vessle on the end.
