agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

As expected, the US blew off its UN Universal Periodic Review (UPR) today. This was the first time that a UN member state completely disregarded its obligations to cooperate w/ the UPR human rights mechanism. The US was given another chance, but what's the point? www.miragenews.com/un-rights-co...

The US’ 4th Universal Periodic Review (UPR) will be held today in Geneva at 8:30 am ET/ 2:30 pm CET. The US won’t be there— a historic first for this important UN human rights mechanism ( i.e., the State under review not showing up.) Will the case of the “sandwich guy” come up? 🤔 #UPR50

Grassroots movements didn’t just inspire Nancy Pelosi—they fueled her. She never forgot that change starts in neighborhoods, not Capitol Hill. Her power came from listening to people, amplifying their stories, and turning their demands into law. #ThankYouNancy

I had a run in with ICE snatching a man out of his car while walking my children to school this morning in NW DC

I asked a neighbor to continue walking my kids to school and I turned back to document and confront the ICE agents.

I am in contact with @dcmigrantmutualaid.org with the full video.

Lots of very good ideas in here for @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social about what it might look like to have a tech policy agenda aligned with human rights principles.
By resisting surveillance and extraction and pursuing goals such as affordability, dignity, and justice, New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani can show how technology can truly serve people, writes Rebecca Williams. The first step, she says, is to protect immigrants.

On the 10th of August in ‘25;

As many chose to look down and duck,
One man decided he had to stand up,
And so he wound up, and said ‘What the f___’
And gave his sandwich a freedom chuck.
