Indeed. Schmaltz used to do a beetroot gravlax and I think there's a spot on Roncy that still does, that's the closest thing I've experienced til now!

The feeling is very mutual! 🥰

Same! Three seems excessive! LOL

Fun news: Having narrated the audiobook version of my own book, Post-Nonmongamy and Beyond, and half-ish of More Than Two, Second Edition, I've now been asked to voice several books by other authors starting early next year. I'm so flattered the authors like my voice! 🥰 Now, to find a good closet...

Just made a sweet little trip to Montreal to see a lovely friend passing through from the US. 💚 @glitter-femme.bsky.social We came across some fun street art in Mile End. And discovered that Fairmount Bagel is now selling haskap-rubbed salmon which is totally delicious! I love this place.

Ugh, I know you understand. Thanks. 💚

Wildest part: I swear they all looked real. But of course, it was dark, it was firelight, his sweater was covering where there could have been strings or whatever, and also I didn't want to stare. Though he was kind of inviting it.
Anyhow, there's what Brain decided to serve up just now. Sorry?

Just had a random memory of being at Burning Man in 2004 and standing around a fire with my then-partner and a bunch of strangers. Partner says "that guy has the WILDEST costume." I look over: guy is wearing a sweater and no pants. That's it. Then I realize he's got three dicks.

Spoiler alert: I am not done. But maybe, just maybe, not too much more once this month's appointments are over with??
In the meantime, my longtime local water spa is closing in January. So no more post-prodding "I need to retreat from the world in a hot tub and cold plunge" within biking distance. 😭

This year has been an absolute marathon of medical appointments, and I am so. very. tired. of running around to nail down administrative details and then running around to appointments where I get poked, prodded, squished, scanned, bled, stickered, weighed and measured. I need to be done. ...

#manicure #extremityfetish I did a one-polish job this week: Velociraptor by Mooncat. It's an older formula that goes on thin and I don't love how the tips show through, but the teal has a juicy translucent finish that reads as candy-like to me, and I love a matte finish on glitter flakies!

Look, if cranberries can be weird and bitter and still liked by roughly half the people at Thanksgiving dinner, then so can you!

LOL I sorta do too? But that could be wishful thinking! And I understand that he hits certain notes, especially height and physique, that fit mainstream notions of "the dom."

The view from the Via train: a ghostly low-hanging waxing gibbous moon against a blush sunset, suspended over reddening trees. Quietly glorious.

It felt very... mid-century wartime vibes. I don't know how to explain it. Like an echo of a past century was in the hall alongside the music. A kind of swelling patriotism I associate with... well, times exactly like now, I suppose, except that right there is fuckin weird.
What a time to be alive.

I have mixed feelings! As always, not a flag-waver, and highly suspicious of anything that smells like nationalism. But also, it was quite stirring? I've never heard the national anthem done by a full orchestra before. To say nothing of a whole Roy Thompson Hall audience standing and singing.

I've become the Spare Date for a few friends who call upon me when they suddenly have a free theatre or symphony ticket. As such, I saw a TSO program tonight, and learned that since the whole "51st state" business began, they have a new tradition of playing Oh Canada at the top of each program (!).

I would love to see that happen.

Refer back to my thread from the other day. TL;DR: The cruelty is the point, again, again, again. And while the Pope holds a lot more authority than many, especially among the religious set, I don't think even he carries enough weight with the mouth-frothing evangelicals.

There's a thing that happens a lot these days that I don't quite know what to do with. It goes like this:
1. Right-wing politician or other figure makes a statement or creates a policy that's totally absurd. Not based in facts, science or even basic reality. Hateful, yes, but mostly just nuts.
...

Welp. I see that even the Pope has fallen into the "being correct" trap. See what I mean? Like, of course, this makes perfect sense. But the people who are against abortion but love the death penalty and want to oust all immigrants are not people for whom "making sense" matters in the slightest.

What a line from the Pope! I am so pleased he is carrying on Pope Francis’ advocacy for immigrants.
More pointedly, the pope said, "Someone who says, I'm against abortion, but is in favor of the death penalty is not really pro-life. Someone who says, I'm against abortion but I'm in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States, I don't know if that's pro-life."
