I was thinking bolar but that's blade I think. It's $20.49/kg this week. Might need to buy a wee roast for Sunday.

The catio is beginning to take shape, although I'm starting to find the weaknesses of my cheap DIY-grade tools (Jobmate circular saw stalls cutting new 95x45 radiata, Black & Decker cordless drill can't handle M10 coach screws).

OK, catio building project about to start. It'll be a few weekends and likely interrupted with building a replacement glasshouse once insurance is sorted.

Almost nine months since Katie succombed to heart disease, it looks like Slinky has decided to become my new gaming buddy.

Update from Powernet tonight, those numbers are coming down.

I don't think we'll be getting any tomatoes this season. A pity, as the irrigation system is all there ready to go....

Just FYI, our boys send purrs to anyone having a bad day/week/month/year.

Popped in to work to use the toilet (no power and tank water means no flush at home!) so thought I'd claim. Not helpful, AMI....
October 23, 2025 at 4:53 AM
AMI will be getting a claim when we get power again. I thought it might be just a few panes of glass, but have come home to a basically destroyed glasshouse. Could be a lot worse - it's only a glasshouse.

The view from my office just now. May grab lunch from the café downstairs instead of going home! The building is shaking quite a bit. I think the workplace vapers may be skipping going out there today.

I thought New Zealand was going up from $28.95 to $39.95. I was wrong - it's going up to $45.95.
October 3, 2025 at 5:34 AM
Just got the in-app notification and it's even worse than I thought. $45.95/mo is just ridiculous, up from $28.95 that's a 59% price rise.

New NFR toy for home, was about time I replaced the T70.
September 29, 2025 at 2:36 AM
Had to be done. Sooooo good. And did I mention Invercargill has the only one in the South Island?
September 26, 2025 at 6:54 AM
Happiest I've probably ever been to have a cold - because it's just a cold!
September 19, 2025 at 9:30 PM
I'll respond with a sleepy seven month old kitten. He's going to be a biiig boy (and you Really notice when he lies on you!).
September 16, 2025 at 8:32 PM
View from the KFC Dee St drivethrough. The competition opens Monday - first in the South Island.
September 5, 2025 at 5:43 AM
OK just one more because I have to show off the awesome wee dudes.
September 3, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Over here on the cat side of things, we have one of each. Arlo the Maine Coon because Tan wanted a dog and I just can't do dogs, so the dog of the cat world is a compromise. And Slinky the rescue. They are both awesome wee guys, and are absolutely inseparable after only a month together.
September 3, 2025 at 7:20 PM
So nice when the boys get along.
August 30, 2025 at 9:07 AM
Arlo and Slinky update - yup, they are getting on just fine. Although it's hard to believe Slinky (left) is about a month older than Arlo - and that Maine Coons keep growing until something like three to four years old. He's way larger than any of our other cats already at just under seven months!

Invercargill is getting Popeyes? I'd completely missed that news. Funny that it's directly over the road from the Dee St KFC.
August 12, 2025 at 1:29 AM
Looks to still be based on the current system, and what's with this colour scheme?
August 10, 2025 at 8:22 PM
Is it flat rate?
August 10, 2025 at 8:05 PM
I tried Copilot and it got it right. I then mentioned ChatGPT's error, and it came up with some info about hallucinations. I then asked it to give me a map of NZ with the regions marked.

Oh dear. It was doing so well there for a moment. At least it got Southland right.
