I was thinking bolar but that's blade I think. It's $20.49/kg this week. Might need to buy a wee roast for Sunday.

Ancient? Nup. Mine are 27 and 28, and I have a daughter-in-law. That's ancient.

If Trump wanted a better trade deal he could just sign up to the CPTPP, or a separate deal with NZ for free trade. I'm sure we'd happily agree to that.

New Zealand does not have tarrifs on the vast majority of US goods, and we've been trying to get a free trade agreement with your country for at least a couple of decades. Why do you tarrif New Zealand goods?

Kind of refreshing to see a generic Windows 11 desktop background there instead of something customised. Kind of like a Teams or Zoom call without a tacky background with a bad pixellated logo somewhere dumb.

I use Copilot (the business version) a little bit, and ask it to provide references for information it finds. It seems to have picked that up as a preference, and now almost always provides a link to where it got info from. It's turning out handy, but so important ot know the limitations of LLMs.

Flexichange should allow you to switch to a different flight on a different day, paying the difference in fares. I don't think they've ever done credit/refund on those.

Just read the BBC article - not sure what outage it is describing but it doesn't match with this morning's. Microsoft 365 and Outlook were fine.

Azure's status page said it was a bad code update deployed to Azure Front Door which propagated across all the nodes, and that's pretty much what I saw with a client who's store and app went down. Could fix by bypassing AFD but TLS certs etc broke.

It looks like slightly out of date info. They're quoting outage numbers from "Monday afternoon" but Powenet's 7:30pm update was about a thousand lower.

And I know I'm lucky I live near Invercargill and only had power down for 14 hours, but still have the buckets of water I siphoned from the tank to flush the toilets just in case. And wifi calling so having no bars of 3G from Bluff isn't a problem.

Most towns are now up (my client in Otautau got power back on Saturday /after/ I'd made trips to grab their server to pop in my rack). Rural is problematic. Practice manager has power but their neighbour doesn't. At least roads are mostly clear.

I'm not surprised. It'd start next weekend and there's still a heck of a lot of more important stuff to do.

Yeah I spent years meaning to finish building timers based on 555s and counters to divide up and things then laat year realised - I have spare old Pis, I can whip up some Python, so why not?
