Ma Hunkel is in Taste of Justice *again*! You and @andrewaydin.bsky.social seem to be on the same wavelength!

Is there something brewing?

Galaxy doesn't need to team up with the JSA to meet Ma Hunkel. 😏

I kinda figured, but I wanted to exclude the JL since we know she’s on it

Idk what the story would be but tbh I wouldn’t be against seeing her team up with the JSA, specifically so she can meet Ma Hunkel and Cyclone.

Back in 2016, I interviewed the late, legendary Congressman John Lewis for @salon.com about his brilliant graphic-memoir series "March," co-written with @natepowell.bsky.social and @andrewaydin.bsky.social, who also joined the interview.

His answer to this question sticks with me.
Text that reads:

This is a really tough and tumultuous time for race relations in this country. Congressman Lewis, are you worried? Are you hopeful? What do you think are some of the answers to some of the really deep divisions we still see today? Text that reads:

Lewis: In spite of all of the things, the issues, that we may be confronting today, I’m very hopeful, very optimistic about the future. That’s why I want to see people pick up “March.” [They will see] we never gave up. We didn’t get lost in a sea of despair. We kept the faith. We kept pushing and pulling. We kept marching. And we made some progress. And when people tell me nothing has changed, I just feel like saying, “Come and walk in my shoes.” Our struggle is a struggle to redeem the soul of America. It’s not a struggle that lasts for a few days, a few weeks, a few months, or a few years. It is the struggle of a lifetime, more than one lifetime. But I truly believe that one day we will get there, we will arrive. And if we do it right in America, maybe, just maybe, we can serve as a model for the rest of the world.

Food, housing, and healthcare costs are exploding in WNC because Republicans cut programs like this that saved lives and saved money. I’m running because I know what happens when care ends, and I won’t stand by while my neighbors are left behind.

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

Sorry, I get REALLY mad about this, because I have friends whose lives and careers would be in much better places had they not been fleeced by their publishing partners. So many administrative-side folks claim to love the medium but don't golden rule the folks who make it, and who trust them.

Smaller publishers like to tout this as a fairer & more equitable means of reaping the reward for a successful book, but it's SO easy to game the numbers.
If a cartoonist you like was with one publisher consistently for a while, then switched? They probably found out the pub was skimming their due.

Swallow Me Whole by @natepowell.bsky.social is a hauntingly beautiful story that captures the disorienting blend of adolescence and mental illness. The shifting artwork mirrors inner chaos, and for me, it’s deeply personal and relatable as someone living with schizophrenia. 💙📚 #BookSky #graphicnovels

I'm enjoying this "book" so much more than I ever thought I would. It's warm and really leans into the feelings and relationships of the #DCComics characters when they're not punching people in the house. If you're not reading Taste of Justice, you're missing out. #ComicsSky
