If you're going to the AMS meeting in Houston in a few weeks, we're celebrating Texas A&M's Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences 60th anniversary. You should show up and say HOWDY!

Nominations for @agu.org AGU awards are now being accepted!

Please nominate a deserving colleague. Many qualified people do not win awards because no one nominates them. Also, for many AGU awards, you can self-nominate.

Update: this is now what comes up at the Climate Working Group domain. Their web skills are every bit as good as their science.

I taught a new class on climate risk this fall. One of the things I emphasized was the role of insurance in our economy and how climate change is blowing it up.

In the end of semester evaluations, the students really liked learning about insurance.

Can someone run a model with the RCP3578 emissions scenario?

The administration dismantling NCAR is scientific vandalism, much like the Taliban demolishing cultural artifacts.

End of the day at #AGU25

Hard to believe I walked nearly 8 miles when I was sitting and listening to talks all day.

Amusing to read Judy Curry’s blog post announcing the report in light of this. Turns out that climate science is NOT baaaack.

A I just got an email from AGU. In years past, the awards banquet always sells out months before the meeting. The fact that they’re still trying to sell tickets suggest that a lot of people are not showing up this year.

I just got a pin for working at Texas A&M for 20 years. When I started here, I had no idea I would stay here that long. It’s been a terrific place to work.
