Probably not a cat, but some days, the lifestyle seems enviable!

Harmful and inaccurate. Bill 29, the Fairness and Safety in Sport Act, applies to adult athletes too (those who are trans or suspected of being ‘not female at birth’). Bills 26, 27 & 29 have inconsistent objectives (parental rights! no parental rights!) and are as chaotic as the rollout of Bill 9.
This alleged protection for children is harmful discourse. And I wish people would stop enabling those who use it, normalizing this insidious language. @cherylanneo.bsky.social .
We know they don’t care about kids, especially do they are disabled or in public schools.

A refreshable Braille display is a device that takes a computer screen's text and generates it in Braille by raising and lowering pins through holes on a flat surface. The display refreshes as the user moves through the screen's content.

Wil the cat is always willing to give her reminders that the morning can of cat food is due. He begins with cuddling and ends with knowing on my arm. Cats are not subtle.

- One-time Canada Disability Benefit $150 payment to folks getting or renewing the DTC starting in 2026. Possibly more beyond this budget timeline.
- Government will move to exempt CDB under the Income Tax Act (ie. AFNI).

Plain language can be everyone's friend.
Avoid jargon whenever possible. When you have to use terms that might not be commonly known or used among your audience, explain what these terms mean. If you can't avoid a lot of specific terms, include a glossary of terms that users can refer to when needed.

Reading this morning. The social model of disability has provided value to the disability community. However, it should be seen as a model with multiple flavours. It should also not be seen as the penultimate. As with any model, it has limitations.

Ben the cat really does like a very diet. He starts by eating his food, then he tries to eat my food as well.

Disability Pride month is complex for me. Do I love and celebrate disabled people? Of course. But I don’t like the reality of existing as a person with disabilities in this world. My experience with disability is all pain and medical procedures and paperwork. It’s hard to connect that to pride.

Important new post by colleague Shaun Fluker. Beyond the substantive reasons for concern about the book ban, including its impact on 2SLGBTQ+ youth and those vulnerable to sexual violence, Shaun points out the ambiguities in the Ministerial order that will make it very hard to apply. #ableg #abpoli

Tod the cat likes to sleep in the bed. He likes to paw my face and wake me up before sleeping beside me.

Problem: Tod is a cat. He sleeps for an hour or two, gets up and then comes back to repeat the process. Unclear about his motivation.

Cats are not subtle creatures. Home late from work? One of the cats decided to show their displeasure by puking on the surge protector and blowing the breaker. But now there is a furry wall of silence about the culprit. No one is willing to point a paw.

Today is a religious holiday for three groups:
-Last day of Passover
-Easter Sunday
-420

Two groups have munchies. One gives the gift of munchies. We all worship in our own way.

Happy 420!
The best thing about prohibition was our 420 rallies.
Edmonton 420 had 10-15k attendance from 2010-2018.
Now 420 is everywhere and we don't have to hide in a crowd.

Tod the cat is really not happy about this whole daylight savings scheme this Spring. So, dads change their schedule, but the electric feeders don't? The time continuum must be protected, and it is up to the cats to do it!

Gus the cat plays an important role. He is the fire captain. If there is a fire alarm, he wanders around howling. He also howls when someone showers though?

Oh well, my understanding is that you should not argue with a fire captain during an emergency.

As the US backs away from commitments to inclusion and betrays its allies, the world watches and waits to see what the people will do.

Will the US turn away from fascism? Will more countries accept the invitation to join fascism?

Tod the cat is cute, cuddly, and...feral. Last night, he reminded me of the latter by biting my neck at 3 am. His position continues to be that there was minimal bleeding, and I am making too big a deal of this.

The US is no longer an ally. An extreme statement, but a country that repeatedly talks about subsuming our country, beginning unwarranted financial attacks, and bypassing NATO partners is extreme too. I am simply recognizing their actions rather than making a political statement.

A marginally democratic leader is encouraging Canada to abandon our sovereignty and become a state.

Aside from a culture different from the US, we have a social safety net (albeit that needs work). Canada is not perfect, but would we trade it all to be tossed paper towels in a crisis?

Started a new book last night:
"Our Crumbling Foundation Canadian Edition: How We Solve Canada's Housing Crisis"
I'm not sure at this point if the book lives up to the ambitious promise of a solution, but it's an interesting book written by a CBC reporter.
