Amazing work from my colleague and postdoc Dr. Isabelle Foote on the genetic architecture of frailty. Encourage you to check it out!!!!

Extremely excited to share the first effort of the Revived Genomics of Personality Consortium: A highly-powered, comprehensive GWAS of the Big Five personality traits in 1.14 million participants from 46 cohorts. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

I'm not 100% sure, but think if you have the data already downloaded you can run local analyses. Otherwise my sense if you have to analyze on RAP.

One of my talented graduate students (@breunigsophie.bsky.social) is putting together an immune-psychiatric focused symposium submission for the Behavior Genetics Association 2025 meeting in Atlanta. She needs one more talk to fill the symposium; if interested send me a message!

GNA estimates conditional genetic associations across traits, SNPs, or genes. In an empirical application, we show that a GWAS of Type 2 Diabetes implicates broad pathways (e.g. chemical reactions in the body) whereas SNP-level GNA results pinpoint core disease processes (e.g. insulin secretion) 2/2
Genomic network analysis characterizes genetic architecture and identifies trait-specific biology
Pervasive genetic overlap across human complex traits necessitates developing multivariate methods that can parse pleiotropic and trait-specific genetic signals. Here, we introduce Genomic Network Ana...

If you're not following the Behavior Genetics Association account yet (@behaviorgenetic.bsky.social), please do! 🧬🧠🤸🏽

Me and Margot van de Weijer will be running it for the time being, sharing BGA updates and summaries of interesting research from their classic journal 📜

RTs appreciated! 🙏🏽

My take would be that start values are conceptually the closest to what you are describing. Most softwares allow for specifying this in some fashion. This tells the SEM software to start by trying out the suggested values and then expands the search space from there.

Here's a picture of my current lab (graduate students Luke Schaffer, Jeremy Lawrence, Sophie Breunig and my postdoc Dr. Isy Foote). We are a collaborative, productive, and nice group and I hope you'll consider joining us!

Students in my lab have an interest in at least one of the research areas listed above, but are not required to engage in research in all areas. Information on how to apply can be found here. Due date for applications is November 15th.

🚨Writing to say that I am actively recruiting PhD students in the clinical -or- behavioral, psychiatric, and statistical genetics program (BPSG) at CU Boulder for a Fall 2025 start date. My lab focuses on genomic methods development and applications to psychiatric and aging outcomes (e.g., dementia)

New preprint just dropped! 🧬🦠
For this project, we looked at the genetic relationships between psychiatric disorders and immune-mediated diseases.

4. One more! Preprint from graduate student Jeremy Lawrence that looks at the links between a wide-range of physical and psychiatric disorders. Findings include that substance use disorders, MDD, and ADHD are as associated with medical traits as with psychiatric. www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...

2. IBG graduate student Sophie Breunig examined genetic links between immune-mediated and psychiatric factors. Findings reveal unique psychiatric links for factors defined by autoimmune vs autoinflammatory diseases: www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...

Proud mentor moment! Three preprints recently released from the lab:
1. Postdoc Dr. Isy Foote examined the genetic architecture of frailty. Analyses reveal seven factors of frailty with unique genetic associations, clinical correlates, and biological pathways: www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...
