Fair. My example probably stems from what I’m thinking about today.

Mom had a fall at 6 this morning and I’m doing all I can. I don’t really want advice, but I sympathize with well wishers trying to help.

That's such a hard instinct to suppress. That instinct to help is powerful.

You're right, of course, but figuring out the moment and exercising restraint when someone is hurting can be hard.

One of my best friends has MS and has fostered four medically fragile children. He's in pain every day, but always walks the stairs, finds time to jog, and says when he tallies up all the good and bad in his life there's always a little more good.

It's so hard to remember that when life sucks.

Perhaps the funniest thing that @hooliocesar.bsky.social and I discovered in Iceland. While we were wandering through their flea market, we found a vendor of international license plates. Right on top, we found one from our home state of Maryland.

The Kolaportid Flea Market in downtown Reykjavik held some surprising treasures including this Maryland license plate from 1980.
