I get a few of these each day. Most of them are the standard AI-generated crap, praising my book and my writing skills, and offering me a chance to be part of a book club.

But a few of the funnier ones I post.

I do try to dump in a few snippets of the languages when I can. Just for flavour, but without having the reader go "Huh?"

Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade.

The natives spoke Greek. The Varangian Guard and other Scandinavian mercenaries spoke Old Norse.

Unless you go to Iceland!
Their modern language is pretty much the same as a thousand years ago.

Great outfit!

When my son, who is in his 20s, read it, he looked at me and said "What is wrong with you?"

My wife, who loves horror movies and podcasts about true crime and cults said "Yeah, I knew that was going to happen".

Can't win 'em all!

That was the last thing on his mind at that point.

"Excuse me. Now, as much as I appreciate you killing the assassin who stabbed me and saving my life, could you please sterilize that needle before patching me up?" 😅

I'm always on Bsky when I'm at work. I use it as my distraction from my day job. So I'm never planning ahead for any of my posts.

Splashy covers might draw my eye, but a good description tells me if I should buy the book. I want to know who the MCs are and what their struggle is.

I don't care about testimonials, I figure those are all bought.

I'm more of a "What day is it? Oh crap! I forgot to post!" sort of person.

pg 139

I swung the chest around in a quick circle to build up speed and then bashed it against the wall, trying to shatter the wood. The chest bounced against the hard stone, sending shock waves down my arm, but only chipping the wood slightly.
Argghhh! Seriously? Stupid medieval craftsmanship!

Her arms wrapped around my shoulders and, without warning, she kissed me. It was a deep, passionate kiss. The type of kiss that only two people fearing for their lives could share. My heart thundered, and my entire body trembled.
Too quickly, our lips parted.

Her words stung me like a whip—mostly because they were true. I had kept her in the dark about so much. She deserved to know the truth.

I prayed for the fre alarm to go off, or my stove to explode, or
something to happen to rescue me from this horrible moment. The one thing I had never wanted to happen was now happening.

Thanks! This is actually about version 9 or 10 of the cover. The first artist quit because neither I nor the publisher liked his first versions. He seemed to be half-assing it after all the great work on the first four. So this is a new designer but with the same feel of the old covers.

Any second now, I’d be landing in history. I’d
need to fnd Sam, identify the time glitch, and, if past experiences were any guide, fgure out who in history was going to try to kill me.

“BOO!” yelled a voice from just over my shoulder.
My heart nearly exploded out of my chest. I whirled around, knife in hand.
