They were too busy reading the 50th story about eggs that they forgot what his first four years were like.

So no second run for Garland? 😂

That only lasts as long as he’s POTUS. Unless you think they’ll repeal the 22nd amendment, then his time is (relatively) short. He can do damage in the mean time, but giving him a third term or permanent status terribly unlikely imo

Bad elements? Sure. There are loads in this admin.
Enough competent elements with support in the right places to pull it off? Not right now.

Though, all it will take is some national event (like a major terrorist attack) for the media to push their support to 11 and manipulate public perception to get his polling back to Jan 20 levels. Which is what will make a lot of the GOP “resisters” fold.

An attempt is still very much on the table, but helpful signs of how quick and effectively it would be squashed.

The longer Dems voted to keep the government closed, the more likely public perception was to flip on them and that flip was almost certainly going to occur when holiday travel for millions is canceled and your vote was why.

At some point in a negotiation one side has to accept that there is no deal to be had and move on. For Dems, that meant opening the government back up before holiday travel madness and getting the GOP to explicitly vote against ACA subsidies.

Is the thought that Dems keep the government closed until the midterms?

That means hundreds of thousands of government employees go more than a year without a job. Or for those that were essential, keep working without pay.

People are questioning if Trump said this explicitly or if Heritage is putting this out there as their own threat.

Reality is, it would only take a reporter to ask Trump about this statement to get him to say he supports it.
