Despite what people think, patriotism has never been about blindly believing something is perfect or even good. It’s trying to make it better. The abolitionists were patriots. The Civil Rights Movement was made up of patriots. Antifia and BLM are patriots.

Ya, I wouldn't call them friends either, but I do try to leave room for people getting better even if I think it's unlikely.

Fifa tried it. What they need to do is make up a bunch of them and give him a new one every day.

I know people who are still upset at DS9 because they "Turned Gul Dukat into a villian".

Just be sarcastic most of the time. It's more fun anyway.

I think there is some value in setting a goal and if sharing it makes you feel accountable to do it then that is fine.
That said it's a completly abitrary goal and unless it makes it easier for you to find time then there isn't much point.

Absolutely. My point is largely about nostalgia.
It's almost impossible to watch a movie you loved as a kid objectively. There are also plenty of movies that are considered good because they were the first to something.

I'm entirely the same. I almost never rewatch anything. But if you wait long enough then you forget enough it's at least a little new again.
As for rewatch a dozen times. There are some comedies that make me laugh every time.

In 2020 I remember someone saying they wanted people to wear masks because not seeing their faces made it impossible to see them as human.

Like so many things it's people telling on themselves.
Empathy is hard for some people and isn't taught well. If that's what it takes then it's something.

It can seem silly, and perhaps it is. But one of the reasons I got out of the concervitive bubble I grew up in was childish name calling.
It didn't change my view of the world. But it changed my view of the people who said it and the first step is always the hardest.

There are a lot of movies that are important either because of when they were made or what age people were when they watched them.
I think that's why movies made for people of a certain age tend to be remembered more and why a classic can be kind of boring.
