I understand the instinct, but taking away benefits from congress such as pay or medicine only makes it harder for people who aren't already rich to run for office.

Rereading A letter from Birmingham jail. I've often skimmed the first paragraphs. This time I was impressed by the line "men of genuinely good will." I have doubts they were, but I know they were more willing to listen after that.

Learning when to stop editing and proofread instead has dropped the amount of easily fixable errors significantly. You'll never catch all the errors while also making major changes to the story.
