Science Fiction and Fantasy writer who likes to imagine what the world could be like because I believe that the first step to getting somewhere is believing it can exist.
I'm not sure I get the logic of I'm going to take the holiday week off by editing together a best of video.
I'm no expert, but isn't editing the part that takes the most time?

While diving home I got it in my mind I had forgotten my keys.
Don't worry, I figured it out before I turned the car around to go back.

I understand the instinct, but taking away benefits from congress such as pay or medicine only makes it harder for people who aren't already rich to run for office.

There are more than two ways to look at any problem.
Don't let a debate lock you into a bad position just because it's better than the other.

How you conduct yourself matters.
If you remove the context can you tell the difference between how you speak and how they do?

Rereading A letter from Birmingham jail. I've often skimmed the first paragraphs. This time I was impressed by the line "men of genuinely good will." I have doubts they were, but I know they were more willing to listen after that.
I need to stop winning arguments and focus on what matters.

I am more confused by people's reactions to what Trump posts than the posts.
You know who he is.
You've known for a decade.
Why are you surprised?

Stop arguing with stupid ideas.
People who say things at the level of 'the earth is flat' want the debate because you responding to tell them why they're wrong elevates their point to something worth debating.

Saw someone talking about how there is no added sugar in fruit juice.
There is also no added sugar in high fructose corn syrup.

I hear people say that ICE is un-American. I'd love for that to be true, and most days I believe that, but on the other hand, perhaps the first step to fixing it is to admit that it is American and the solution isn't to say we're better than this, but to actually become better.

The amount of confusion that is created by trying to make things idiot proof is baffling to me. The warnings on things are so absurd that I'm convinced I must not understand something.

I clean off my desk every day and yet it always seemed covered in clutter.

Learning when to stop editing and proofread instead has dropped the amount of easily fixable errors significantly. You'll never catch all the errors while also making major changes to the story.

The movie isn't good, but the tagline 'Whoever Wins We Lose" has become far to relevant. This shouldn't be how I feel every time I watch the news.

Every time I go back to an old manuscript I'm torn between being glad that I am still improving and wanting to go back and edit everything I've ever written.

Bookfunnel has become one of my most used writing tools because unlike so many other sites it doesn't lock you into do things one specific way.

One of the reasons you need to kill your darlings is that sometimes clever writing just distracts your audience rather than improves your story.

What is your writing goal? To entertain, to educate, or to prove you're smarter than your audience.

There is a style of how to books out there that tell you what to do, but give absolutely no advice on how to do it.
It kind of makes me want to write a mystery novel except it just ends after the murder.

Finished "I know why the Caged Bird Sings" this morning. It never gave me what I expected, but it made me feel like I was there and I want more.
But I'm still not sure why the caged bird sings.
