Well done mate. Your find has given a lot of pleasure to a lot of people.

Phew! The eclipse drake Blue-winged Teal finally gave itself up after a marathon 5-hour search at Loch of Spiggie. Tough to see in reed and grass in the south west corner viewed from entrance to Spiggie House on road c400m beyond RSPB hide #ukbirding #birdingScotland

I was trying to re-find a Lapland Bunting at Esha Ness lighthouse on Friday when a Rustic Bunting was discovered just 10 minutes away. A rapid drive culminated in brief but conclusive views of a female-type bird perched up in willows. My first Rustic for several years #ukbirding #birdingScotland

A smaller crowd today and better views of the first-winter male Siberian Thrush, which sat up to feed on elder berries in full view for around one minute when the sun came out and the wind dropped briefly. Had great views of the undertail coverts. Happy chappy! #ukbirding #rarebirds #birdingScotland

I was standing near Daniel Gebauer when the Siberian Thrush broke cover and gave startled birders a rapid flyby at Asta yesterday. Beaming from ear to ear, he then showed several of us this stunning image he captured. Absolutely insane! Well done Daniel #ukbirding #birdingScotland

Hi Paul. Scalloway is a really good area. Watched it in previous years, without managing anything as good as Si Nicholls' discovery yesterday. As for this year, I'm loving it. Have to make most of each rarity, as it will be back to trying to find my own birds on patch next year!

The joys of semi-retirement Justin.

Bird of the year as far as I'm concerned! Was in the right place at the right time to connect with this 1st winter male Siberian Thrush at Scalloway. My 340th species of the year in the UK, it showed better than this image suggests #BirdingScotland #ukbirding

Rarity finders: Isabelline Wheatear in Co Durham

Finding a rare bird is thrilling, but doing so due to it landing on your arm is an entirely different level of exhilaration, as Andy Close experienced in a remarkable occurrence at Seaburn:

First day on Shetland and a successful trip to Yell, where cracking views of this Short-toed Lark were enjoyed. A confiding bird, it showed really well once the tour groups had departed. #ukbirding

Cheers Martyn. Seems to be hotting up a bit today!

Fabulous encounter with the Grimston Siberian Stonechat - in rain this morning and, again, in sunshine this afternoon. If I lived in East Yorkshire, I'd make this area of the coast my regular patch! Onwards to Aberdeen ferry port next #ukbirding

Cracking bird isn't it Matt!

Enjoyed an amazing encounter with this showy Isabelline Wheatear at Seaburn yesterday. Was good to spend time with my old Scilly associate @sibechat.bsky.social, who captured these superb images. A master bird photographer at work in the field! #ukbirding

A helter skelter kind of a day in the North and North East concluded with great scope views of this beautiful Brown Shrike at the Hunmanby Gap. Glorious scenery and friendly locals added to the feelgood factor #ukbirding

Great bird, great pics Tom. Good to see you today!

Too many for my liking, but couldn't resist the lured of the Issy. Loved spending time on the beach at Seaham!

Adult male Brown Shrike still present at dusk from pumping station at Hunmanby Gap and appeared to go to roost. Generally elusive, but can show well on occasions #ukbirding

Isabelline Wheatear still showing well in the dunes at Whitburn sea front in tropical temperatures mid-afternoon! #ukbirding
