Years ago I would watch people on tv walking battlefields and question the value but having walked Jarama, Madrid & the Ebro to name a few, I would have to agree with you that it makes a huge difference as to how you understand the story.

I’ve found a lot of interesting stuff in this series of podcasts about that period…

Was able to trace where my Nan lived as a young woman on there, helping her mum with the laundry business that was run out of the side of their home. We tracked it down via the address on a letter she’d written to our grandad who was recovering after being gassed & wounded during WW1.
