Sounds good. Oxford needs a lot more Lab space than it currently does.

A lot being I’ve been a doctor for almost 3 and a half years and I’m currently on my 10th rotational job!

This is sometimes true from my experience across *a lot* of NHS departments.

Though I would reframe some of that ‘over staffing’ as often being spare capacity and how things should be run. And I think all NHS services should operate with a reasonable level of spare capacity.

It’s absolutely saddening to see that people who have gone to medical school for 6 years, getting debts of £100,000+ for this, then work for 2+ years more find themselves unemployed whilst waiting lists are so long.

This chart illustrates the problem well at the post-F2 level. Increasingly more applicants, may from across the world, competing for a per capita smaller amount of jobs.

It’s only worsening the longer the government does not take action as more and more are stuck in the system and many will leave the profession (or the country) as a result.

The employment crisis is probably more pressing. I know of many colleagues who could not find a job or are in precarious employment due to government strangulation of training posts and GP/Consultant posts.
