I've had time recently to curl up with Kelly Matthews's Brian Friel: Beginnings, and it is a delight. It's not easy to write beautiful narrative and theoretically intervene, but Kelly does both with such finesse.

We're beginning the day listening to @chenoweth.bsky.social's Bates College MLK day keynote. Daycare is closed, and 15 month olds are not famously good audience members, so I'm grateful for the livestream as a way to participate.

V. Shrout Coes and E. Coes Shrout were born on October 2 & We were just cleared to bring them home! There are still some letters to dot and cross, but C and I are so happy to be parents to twins! My leave starts in December - apologies in advance for the plates I'll likely drop between now and then!

When I first moved to Maine, my aunt & uncle gave me a maple slab from a tree that came down at their old house in Falmouth, where we used to visit every winter. Five years later, I finally finished making it into a desktop for my work office.
