Funny how this is the only post I've found from a Bluesky employee with the word "trans" made in the past 12 months. We can definitely trust this teams unbiased opinion that the biggest transphobe here hasn't broken any rules.

It's important to remember that the NRA only supports minorities in the abstract. If you say you want to take a groups guns away, they'll say you shouldn't. But when it comes to defending the rights of individuals in that group, the NRA will find an excuse to look the other way.

All those statements of user centrality, composable moderation, and safety for marginalized users on this platform, that’s all a bunch of bullshit, right?

They could restore Link’s account tomorrow and Jay and company would still be a bunch of transphobic, racist hypocrites.

Leaving was in fact the right way for Peterson to do his brand of politics.

They can, they do and they have in very recent memory. Even now they're banning people and removing posts simply for being critical of the team. Clearly the rules are incredibly flexible, they just like Singal and approve of his transphobia.

I'd be more capable of understanding the logic if it didn't feel just entirely bad faith. "He didn't break the rules and we won't change them just because the mob demands it" doesn't really work when we're less than a month out from them changing the rules to ban people who weren't sad a Nazi died.

If you were wondering why the sudden ban wave seemed inconsistent and illogical, that's the reason.

The bluesky moderation team essentially ignored their own TOS and instead used rightwing outrage from twitter to decide who to ban. They then sloppily issued a post hoc statement to justify it.

After using nazi outrage as a list of users to ban on bluesky, the moderation team immediately changed their terms of service to include "glorification" of violence in a statement posted to @safety.bsky.app

The ceo @jay.bsky.team also made a mealy-mouthed statement protecting the dead fascist
post from bluesky safety that reads: "Glorifying violence or harm violates Bluesky’s Community Guidelines. We review reports and take action on content that celebrates harm against anyone. Violence has no place in healthy public discourse, and we’re committed to fostering healthy, open conversations"

Followed by a post from Jay

"Violence is always unacceptable, and threats of violence have no place in public discourse. Our thoughts are with Charlie Kirk and his family."

Funny how quickly "oh our hands our tied he hasn't broken the TOS" has turned into "we're vindictively banning people regardless of the TOS for questioning our moderation choices."

Jay: suspends a dozen people entirely on the sayso of an article from The Federalist calling them 'demonic', rewrites ToS after the fact to claim that the mere suggestion of speaking ill of the dead counts as "glorifying violence"

Harassing the mods into banning someone has never worked. And harassing people in general has never changed their mind.

It wasn't just porn, it was a porn scam bot. He vindictively banned a trans woman for pointing out the head mod can't recognize scam bots.
The incident showed he's bad at his job and abuses his power. Either should have resulted in him being fired but his victim was trans so Jay shrugged it off.

Musk found a show that was cancelled two years ago with a trans character and got mad.

"Guide button focuses Steam" just makes when you hit the button in a non-steam app it brings up Steam.

The way to stop it from hijacking the guide button is "Test Input Devices" then "Setup Input device" and when it gets to the guide button, skip with A. This is incredibly unintuitive.

These are also problems that directly lead to Twitter becoming a Nazi bar: the execs refused to take action because they liked the most toxic people on the site and allowed transphobes to run wild while ignoring/mocking/punishing trans people for their concerns.
It's be nice to avoid that outcome.

I’ve said it before, any judge who so comfortably and clearly shows their prejudice should immediately be barred from their jobs, but we don’t live in a world that makes sense.

We live in a world where white people get to deem racism as a simple inconvenience and be the sole arbiter of its weight.

My first assumption was "Toriel," which at this point would probably get the same response.

They're just authoritarians buying up a major media company and taking it private. I bet you can't even name one example of that being absolutely fucking terrible for everyone involved within say the last 4 years.

I once had one of my mom's coworkers mistake me for her own kid. Later my mom encountered my doppleganger and was like "yeah you know what, I see it." I never encountered my supposed clone first hand so either we're very similar or both our moms are faceblind and don't know it.

People on the left believed "Vote Blue No Matter Who" was little more than a weapon meant to make us bend the knee. Asking centrists to demonstrate they actually hold that belief, and weren't just using it is an attack is not itself an attack.

We're asking you to prove us wrong, and you won't.
anem.bsky.social
This is rich from centrists who have spent years trying to bludgeon the left into submission with "Vote Blue No Matter Who." Backing Mamdani would be an easy win. It would prove to those who were always skeptical of "no matter who" that it was a value not an attack. Yet they won't take the win.

Really loving this trend of American politicians just kind of erasing WW2.
