Please share!

We need a few more folks (esp. mentors) to join the SSB Mentorship Program for 2025. Help the next generation of systematists take flight!

Past mentors say: "really satisfying", "extremely gratifying", "optimism-inspiring", "just do it!"

Why am I working harder than usual to get the next set of papers on #phylogenetics and #biomechanics completed and published? I have 3 proposals sitting at NSF, probably all dead in the water. I guess it’s just manic conflict avoidance, gonna keep on keepin on.

If i run basic evo models on a phylogeny for a given trait and get a best fit for an OU model, can I map the adaptive peak onto the phylogeny?

Help!
Using phylotools for this if it helps

Ohio institutions receive over $1B in NIH funding for their work, with Ohio State receiving over $325 million.
Shutting down medical research — not just within NIH, but everywhere that’s funded by NIH — will have long-term effects on medicine & short-term effects on state, higher education & hospital budgets. This affects all of us, not just researchers.
The assault on NIH is a test for how the national media covers the Trump admin: Trump is shutting down medical research!

That is easy to communicate. Will they treat it as a 5 alarm fire in a way that forces the government to respond, or will they downplay & caveat it?

It took me more than 4 years to capture a scene I could only dream of. A magnificent Condor soars above the peaks of Argentina's Mount Fitz Roy, as they are spot lit in beautiful morning light. 🪶
