I came home last night to find this waiting for me: my first academic monograph. The Gothic at War is developed from my PhD research, with new work on Clara Reeve & Charlotte Smith, exploring the Gothic as a literature of conflict. Just back from a few restorative days away in London. One of the many highlights was visiting the Sir John Soanes museum, gamefully accompanied by my 19yo daughter. She loved it too. It’s the combination and juxtaposition of objects in the displays that I love the most.
