I get to play with words for a living. I’m an eldergoth, mother of two kickass kids, and an avid bingo player. I also make statement jewelry under the name Death + Moxie. Check out my work at http://www.deathandmoxie.com.
WoPo subscription canceled. Democracy dies in darkness. I will go where there is light.

Time to campaign to get the Olympic committee to pull the US games. FIFA too. You know what? ALL pro sports need to show up for this.

This is what it looks like to speak truth to power.
Wow. Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde fearlessly calls out Trump and Vance to their faces. This is heroic.

The preemptive breakdown of the media is chilling. Gotta wonder how long it’ll be before he starts pulling broadcast licenses. Will it be before or after he starts putting journalists in jail?
This is the cowardice of The New York Times. Legacy media is failing.

I love this so much!

At the inauguration, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wore a distinctive collar adorned with cowrie shells, which are believed to offer protection from evil in African traditions.

This choice mirrors the late Justice Ginsburg’s practice of using collars to convey a message.

Reminder that That Guy gets sentenced today. We won't see the proceedings (booooo), but we will get audio. I'm not sure whether the audio gets released after today's session or after the (inevitable) appeal.

While reading an article about today's TikTok hearing at the Supreme Court, my brain, fully on its own, without any conscious effort, "saw" the words "the court injustices" and carried on with the sentence. I had to go back and reread it.

I guess it's safe to say I'm pretty much done with that lot.

I wish I could say this restored any of my faith in the Court, but…wait, let me look…still nope. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. But yay for today.
🚨BREAKING: In a 5-4 ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court REJECTED Donald Trump's motion to block his criminal sentencing in New York.

I need to do better over here. Never been great at communicating in this format but safe spaces are hard to come by. This is worth the effort. I’ll try harder!

Ha! Looks like someone got an ultimatum. 🤣😂🫢😂🤣

I hope the report comes out anyway, but hey, I'll take the win.

Fuck, now I have the words "Matt Gaetz withdrawing" in my head, and I need to go douse myself in bleach.

The war on Sarah McBride is a war on all LGBTQ people. But they've declared war before--to racially segregate the US population from the top down. This is a small step into VERY deep water.

He might not be able to teach them how to use apostrophes, but by God, they’ll know they shouldn’t fuck their neighbor’s wife.

Glory be!

It says a lot about November 2024 when Mike Tyson is somehow the lesser of two evils and…loses to some white asshole in a red hat with a cult following on the internet.

This is hilarious. I’ve never seen a boxer look less excited to enter a ring. JP seems to be reconsidering his life choices. 🤣

I guess this explains why DOJ is "wrapping up" the case(s) against the felon before he takes office, but it still sucks. Everything about this sucks.
As you read reports of Jack Smith’s plans to resign before he’s fired, please keep a couple of things in mind. First, if he didn’t step aside and was fired, we would never get to see his final report. 1/
