Despite the constant monotone of Tomio’s voice, there’s a hint of something that could pass as either disbelief or even bitterness.

It was nice to see a little bit of cheer cross her features. It did make her look younger than before, and her giggle was a welcome noise. He smiled in return.
"I am glad to have been some help, even if only a little."

The silence that settled after the vase smashed was heavy. It let her sit in her complicated feelings. The rage, the grief.

Listening to the young lady's own story angered him *for* her. It was enough to be able to sympathize but he couldn't imagine what she must be feeling. To not be wanted, for your creator to not even want to make you in the first place.
