Waiting for the rest of the losers to show up…

Oasis, strong tea, BCFC and walking in solitude.
Betrothed to a bear, mother of trois and an all-round ray of sunshine.
The deepest, darkest Midlands.
I’m in the 5am wrapping club.

There are no tinned chocolates left in this house to calm me down either

The M6 was nothing short of torture today. 45 minutes late for work thanks to the northbound congestion, and a delightful drive home in what felt like a river with bonus waves flying in from the other carriage on the way home.

We’re now in ‘sounds like a job for January’ territory

Welcome to egg house. You too will reek of eggs on departure.

We have someone coming round today to fix our internal doors. I have ensured that the house is tidy and clean and smelling fresh. I continue to work from my office. My partner cooks fried eggs and doesn’t put the extractor on despite my daily nagging. We now smell like a greasy spoon. Eggs ffs.

Will I be judged if I take my hot water bottle to the school play?

I am literally sick of that ‘Diarrhoea- HUH’ advert.

I’m having one of those days when your head is in another place altogether. I’ve got people’s names wrong, misinterpreted spreadsheets, had a few dizzy spells...
Shouldn’t have got out of bed this morning 😵‍💫

Apparently, these are the cats pyjamas…

Rushing out the door like a maniac with the youngest this morning when, with multiple bags in hand she said “STOP!” and I’m like seriously, you’ve forgotten something?

Then she looked at me and said “hug” 🥺

Which recipes am I most likely not to cock-up this year?

Prague was quite the city.

It’s my Grandad’s funeral today. He lived a full and busy life with my Granny who we sadly lost in 2017. He was a British soldier and he met Granny while serving in Ireland. They met at a tea dance, married and moved to Warwickshire. They had 7 children, 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

The Tesco website is down. Everyone is racing to get the Christmas orders in apparently.

This year will be somewhat more troublesome as we will be joined by his sister and her husband. I have tried to appear enthusiastic by buying flashing devices I can clip onto myself off Amazon. How on earth am I going to pull this off?

I’m going to a ‘rave’ on Saturday. The other half took me to my very first one last year (he relives his acid house youth) I pretended to like it. It felt like being in a washing machine with 20 spoons and malfunctioning Christmas lights. I feigned a bad head and managed to drag him out to get food.

This will be the winter when the hibernation mindset finally manifests into excessive weight gain. I’ve gotten away with it for too many years now.

This morning was brought to you by “where the fuck is the hair brush?!” and “I can’t believe nobody knows how to empty the dishwasher!”
October 29, 2025 at 9:34 AM
Mind you, as a Teams call was ending last week, someone said “have a great Christmas” and I just don’t know what could have possibly possessed them.

I’ve just used that God-awful phrase “let’s circle back” and I couldn’t hate myself anymore.

The upside to everything being terrible is that my socks are lasting a lot longer since I quit sliding around on the wood floor with joy.

The builders on our estate have a much better radio station playing this morning which makes a change from the younger builders who blast out Capital from 7am onwards at a 1000 decibels while you’re trying to work.

I may even offer them a brew.

I’ve seen that reel going round about ‘how parents want teachers to react when their child loses their jumper’. Let me tell you the rage I felt when after only the third occasion of wearing her compulsory, school-badged, excruciatingly expensive PE fleece disappeared without a trace.
