not even cs exclusive. "generatingfunctionology" does the same thing by 1) using inline LaTeX in random places for apparently no reason other than to save on line space, and 2) inventing a bunch of completely asinine "shorthand" when standard notation would get the point across far more clearly
programming/cs textbooks trying to minimize their pseudocode even when it actively makes it less readable is so infuriating. you are writing an EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE bro i promise people are not going to be bothered if you write everything out explicitly and in excruciating detail
