In vim, the normal mode, the mode you have to deliberately leave, is to not type put to *edit* text.
Because like 80% of writing code, is reading and editing it, not typing it.
You can :badd a new buffer, yank that annoyingly repetitious code to it, :w as a snippet.
Then :r!cat your new snippet when needed.
