It's not living in fear to wear seatbelts, to refuse to drink dirty water, to wash your hands, or to practice food safety measures. Similarly, breathing clean air means life is safer which can actually bring a lot of freedom!
angryhacademic.bsky.social
Remember COVID risks are not just about feeling rotten for a few days - there's plenty of long term and lasting "hidden" risks as well as long COVID, in both adults and kids.
angryhacademic.bsky.social
Ofc none of these are guarantees, but the more mitigation strategies you use consistently, the less likely you are to get infected. And if you do get infected, it can feel pretty hopeless so hopefully there's some ideas for you to look into that might help if you do get infected
angryhacademic.bsky.social
🛏️ Finally: REST, REST, REST, AND REST SOME MORE. When you start to recover, REST. Avoid going back to work/usual activities until you actually feel fully recovered
angryhacademic.bsky.social
3. Be prepared if you get infected or have been in a (potentially) risky situation:
🧪 Test with LFTs (see blog for info RE accuracy etc)
🥛 Mouthwash 5 x day with CPC mouthwash
👃🏻 Nasal sprays/sterile saline nasal rinses
💊 Some meds/supps may help, beyond prescribed antivirals
angryhacademic.bsky.social
2. Be protected in case you do come into contact with it:
💉 Get vaccinated
👃🏻 Use nasal sprays
angryhacademic.bsky.social
Brief rundown as follows (more details in blog):
1. Try & avoid it:
😷 Wear a well fitted FFP3 mask
🍃 Open windows
🌬️ Use air filters
📏 Keep distance between people
💡 Far UVC lights
🧪 Ask people to stay home if they're ill with any symptoms
‍💨 Monitor the air for CO2 levels

A lot of people have COVID or other respiratory-like illnesses right now. This blog is a run down of things that can help reduce the risk of catching it, with some possible ideas on how to reduce severity if you do catch it:

Fun fact: hiccups are still a bit of a mystery. Over 100 possible factors have been proposed to cause hiccups, with about 60 being reliably associated. The longest bout of hiccups lasted nearly 70 years!

Fun fact: just as adolescence is when our body prepares for adulthood, maltrescence is when our bodies prepare for motherhood. There's even less research in dads, but they seem to have similar changes, especially if they're more involved in childcare

Fun fact: cephalopod (e.g. squids) brains are doughnut shape & the oesophagus runs through the middle. This means swallowing food that is too large risks brain damage (their anatomy mitigates this risk)

I think the saddest thing about this is that its probably not uncommon but our period education is so poor very few young people especially know what normal periods should be. Im hoping things have started to change and drs start paying attention to these clues. Sorry to hear you went through that 😥

This thread 👇🏻 💯

One question i always ask clients who could be menstruating is about changes in their period blood - its something i noticed correlated with my own pain/symptoms: darker, clottier, and thicker = hell
...wait. Holy moly this is something I have seen change with my period. I was so busy focusing on the obvious, huge clots that I hadn't consciously thought about blood colour until now.

Reduction in clots + change in blood colour since taking fibrinolytic/proteolytic enzymes since Feb.

Fun fact: male camels have a pretty weird mating ritual; they froth at the mouth and extrude a soft inflatable sack that lines the roof of their mouth (called a dulla) to assert their manly dominance

California has now banned algorithmic price fixing.

The state has outlawed the practice of landlords colluding to raise prices using rental software and AI.

This is a huge victory for renters in the biggest state in the country.

Nice thread. Despite a long history of medical cover ups, mistakes and oversights, it is remarkable how confident and dismissive the medical community are when faced with patients reporting issues following administration of a new product.
