So proud to have hosted this Care Conference in Fort William along with Kate Forbes.

We confirmed TODAY that the Scottish Gov will commit to forming a working party with local communities to push for solutions. I'm delighted to see this result - and I'll keep working every minute

Tomorrow is my Highland Care Conference, which I'm hosting with Kate Forbes.

Securing social care for our elderly in the Highlands is vital and I'm determined that tomorrow will help bring solutions.

I'll post lots of updates as tomorrow goes on.

I’ve secured a meeting with UK Ministers to tackle the deep unfairness of rural energy costs - when Highland households pay up to four times more to heat their homes than those in cities.

Communities generating clean power should benefit, instead of being penalised with higher bills.

The National Mòd has been a great success in Fort William, great music, good crowds and gorgeous weather. Well done James Graham, Ian Robertson and the many others who made it epic.

Earlier this week was World Mental Health Day. Speak Their Name is a memorial where anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide can create a memorial square. A very touching experience to see.

Local charities like Mikeysline or the Samaritans are always available if you need them.

New health and safety regulations mean that the Portree helipad and hundreds more will not be available for search and rescue helicopters - risking the health of people needing medical evacuation.

I have met with the Coastguard, Bristow, and the CAA and hope that a resolution can be found quickly.

A real Russian Shahed drone being put together in Parliament today. It’s 4m long and can carry 90kg of explosives. Russia manufactures 170 a day and most get directed onto civilian Ukrainian targets. Russia must lose this war for the sake of peace in Europe.

Some thoughts from the road - the remote Highlands is in a demographic struggle

Mikeysline does an amazing job helping those in crisis in the North of Scotland. It was a pleasure to meet some incredible volunteers today.

Whatever you’re going through, you can contact Mikeysline here oursupport.mikeysline.co.uk or call Samaritans for free any time, from any phone, on 116 123.

Great to meet campaigners at today’s #SEND rally in Parliament Square.

Although this is a devolved issue, I’m proud to support Liberal Democrats in their call for urgent and genuine reform so every child with SEND gets the support they need.

I was delighted to attend the old tradition of ‘Kirking of the Council’ in Inverness on Sunday. There was a great procession led by the pipe band, hundreds of school children, military cadets, and various dignitaries

1 in 7 school children are estimated to be neurodivergent. I left school a year early with poor results, it took me decades to realise I wasn’t thick!

@adamjamesdance.bsky.social is introducing a bill that will help a huge number of dyslexic and neurodivergent children. Watch his fantastic speech:

Today is #BackBritishFarming day

Farming is critical to our food security and environmental protections and our farmers need more support, not less.

It’s time both our governments recognised their invaluable contributions and backed a thriving future for Scottish agriculture now and in the future!

Last week I visited the Portree community helipad and met with Calum Matheson, Chair of Portree and Braes Community Trust, and Neil Campbell, Trustee responsible for the site.

Ofgem have confirmed that energy bills will rise by more than expected ahead of this winter. This will put enormous pressure and strain on many families, especially in the Highlands where 36% of households live in fuel poverty. People deserve a fairer energy system.

At last the West Highlands is seeing the glass bins and sea of boxes and bags full of bottles getting taken away!

On Tuesday, there was a packed meeting in Inverness with 11 MP’s and MSP’s and representatives from 60 Community Councillors. The mood was very firmly that the Highlands is suffering from industrialisation with every hill and glen getting covered in wind turbines and transmission lines.

Sharing this important survey that my colleague @jamiegreeneuk.bsky.social is conducting. It's so important that local voices are heard on this issue.

Answer it here: shorturl.at/Uo7gf

Glad that my friend and colleague @jamie4north.bsky.social is raising this important issue.

In 2016, maternity services at Wick Hospital were downgraded - forcing many women to travel more than 100 miles to give birth at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, in my constituency.

I am very glad to be co signing this letter with the ambition of joining France in recognising Palestine as a separate state. Starmer is being weak in not following through on Labour's previous commitment to do this.

Companies that rely on electricity for power are being hammered.

My colleague Neil Alexander and I heard that 28% of the Inverness Ice Centre's income was spent on electricity. No wonder Ayr and Elgin ice rinks have shut. I’ll be writing to the Energy Minister yet again about this issue.

Great news for Glenuig Inn! The Scottish Land Fund have co funded along with the substantial amount raised from those living in the area. There will be more than few drama downed in celebration. Well done the committee.
