The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Assume all the yes and no votes from Dem senators are strategic and not sincere votes. The party caucus made a decision. No way to know how many were in favor. Then the caucus decided who would vote yes and no based on what would protect each of them politically the most. That’s how this works.

“Después de todo, los jueces no podemos ser tan ingenuos como para creer aquello que nadie más creería”. PR Sup act judge Raúl Serrano Geyls, Pueblo v. Luciano.
Judge Reyes exploded at a DOJ lawyer in a hearing on Trump's transgender troops ban:

"I am not going to abide by government officials saying one thing to the public - saying what they really mean to the public - and coming in here to the court and telling me something different like I'm an idiot."

When newspapers start censoring viewpoints, when the government takes to social media to threaten the exercise of free speech by activists, actions like this one empower people to be brave, stay vocal, and not give up power voluntarily. This was excellent.
In an early sign of dissent, Democratic Rep. Al Green was removed from the House chamber after disrupting President Trump's address to Congress. Follow AP for live updates.

There is a screaming fallacy in justifying the action of withdrawing access to your paper on the basis of content because of the availability of inert access to the internet. In other words, the Post could have always said: “standing on a crate in a public square does that job,” but it didn’t.
Massive encroachment by Bezos into The Washington Post’s opinion section - makes clear dissenting views will not be published

I still have not felt encroachment on my journalism on the news side, but if Bezos tries interfering with the news side I will be quitting immediately and letting you know

Ngl, changing the default browser in my iPhone from Google to Duck Duck Go kinda changed my life. Also switching from Chrome to Firefox (with a few tweaks), along other privacy-focused changes. Every small step to reclaim a bit of control over my digital privacy brings me an abundance of joy.

Puerto Rico governments often change its name for official purposes between the «Government of Puerto Rico» and the «Commonwealth of Puerto Rico»… It’s still is and always has been a colony.

There so much that is wrong with the Executive Order titled “Protecting the meaning and value of American citizenship.” From using «but» at the start of a sentence, to contrast a purported 100 year error in interpreting the 14th Amend., to defining “mother” and “father” in exclusive fashion.

The PR 🇵🇷 government enacted the infamous Law No. 7 in 2009. It declared a fiscal emergency and wielded emergency powers to dismiss 30k public employees and defund many social impact programs. However, it did little to prevent bankruptcy as gov contracting increased beyond any “cost saving” measure.
