Good luck with your holiday baking!
I have been catching up on podcasts during my holiday candy making.

Boo :(

We got about 5 inches in four days.
Not actually that unusual a volume. Fortunately our local creek isn’t fed from snow melt! It looks healthy now, but is not flooding.
How have you fared?

Aww! The wreath is adorable :)

Lovely!
I enjoy listening to multi-part choral music. I hope you find a good group for next year!

Yeah, I enjoy making things, and I enjoy the family tree trimming, which we always do on the solstice.
What are your favorite traditions?
Your new inch of beautiful snow sounds lovely.
I hope you have a cozy day at home!

Oh no :(
December 6, 2025 at 9:12 PM
Thank you!
I’ve been trying to finalize my “new seeds to try” list.
I’d like to get the order in this weekend, but I currently have too many things on the list ;)
Enjoy your armchair gardening!

A surprising number of flowers I have been growing recently are from Mexico: pineapple sage, gentian sage, signet marigolds, all the cosmos... makes me want to take a wildflower-viewing trip to Mexico, except of course it's a big country ;)

Thank you!
Your armchair gardening sounds nice. I need to order a few more seeds, myself, while the rarer varieties are still available.

They're tender perennials; I haven't yet narrowed down exactly how tender. My current impression is that they can take a hard frost, but not <20F.
That seems to be true of a lot of Mexican plants that are cultivated decoratively here...
They would do well as annual pot stuffers for you!

I'm sure your town is well equipped for dealing with snow.
That amount of snow would completely shut down Olympia for at least a day, maybe a couple days.... :)

I'm glad you've had enough weather to get everything ready for winter!
I still need to do a little more work rearranging young tree and shrub seedlings so that they will be ok in a cold snap.

Best wishes!
Please enjoy this cosmos and bumblebee from sunnier times.
November 30, 2025 at 2:33 PM
Wow! How pretty!
I hope you’ve gotten can stay hunkered down today.
