Dear Patreon decision makers,

I heard about the survey you recently released to creators, to hear how creatives feels about AI. My creator page is run by myself and my creative partner, who has already filled in the survey. But I want to make my own feelings known as well, as a Patreon Creator, a Patreon user, and an artist in general.

I strongly oppose the infiltration of gen-AI tools in the creative space. They are, first and foremost, an unethical use of human creation without permission or compensation. I'm also opposed to them for a variety of environmental, artistic, and moral reasons. So if I find that a creator I've followed or supported is using gen-AI in their art, they've lost my respect and my appreciation, and I will not continue to support them.

Additionally, if Patreon decides to officially welcome AI-generated artwork, and - worse - implement tools that facilitate the stealing of human-made work to benefit AI tools, then I will close both my creator and supporter accounts and find another way to support the human creators I follow.

If your mission is to give creators ownership over their work, do not allow tools that seek to steal said work. If your mission is to put human creativity first, do not allow algorithms that produce regurgitated slop without intent or thought. Please do not join this depressing trend just for the sake of getting on the wagon. Be better.

🍂Judgement of the Briar Queen🍂
