Merry Christmas 🎄

Wonderful!

Ever considered why birdsong is a pleasant sound?

Consider your ancestors who lived in caves. The sound of birdsong signalled safety: birds fled when predators appeared.

That’s why your subconscious feels calm when it wakes to the dawn chorus.

Some assume that those who speak first know what they’re talking about.

They often don’t: they’re simply thinking unprocessed thoughts out loud.

And if they say it confidently, society applauds them.

Hence why it’s important introverts know hacks to interrupt & get themselves heard asap.

Yes, extroverts are louder than introverts.

But we live in a visual world.

Use that to your advantage.

Never let anyone persuade you into thinking that introverts are anti-social.

They’re simply selective in how they want to socialise.

A evening spent in deep discussion with a trusted friend is more enjoyable than one spent making small talk all night.

The first is energising; the latter work.

I remain unconvinced there are as many Christmas parties going on as the media makes out.

There may be plenty of parties in the media / PR world, but outside of that? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Apple Store employees apparently never say “unfortunately”.

It sounds too negative.

They’re trained instead to say “as it turns out”.

Listen carefully the next time you have to visit to get something fixed.

Trust is central to successful relationships - social, professional & romantic. It flows on being reliable, being true to our word, following through on promises.

Is being trustworthy taught? Or do we expect everyone to learn it by osmosis ie simply by being part of the community?

Makes sense. Revisiting a place significantly reduces the stress that travelling can bring.
The case for taking the same holiday again and again
More travellers are swapping bucket lists for destinations they know by heart. Here's why going back – again and again – can feel so good.

Clients truly appreciate the introvert preference for concise, considered statements. Saves them valuable time & energy.

Another great introvert advantage!

Shall we define stress as feeling not in control, which induces low-level panic?

Highly recommend ‘Good Anger’ by @samparker.bsky.social

Now understand that anger is an energy which can be used as a force for good.

Excellent piece of work, Sam 👏👏👏

Could even say “my birthday’s in December but I celebrate it in July”. No lies there!
If you have a suboptimal birthday, you can just change it and nobody will know. My birthday is on Christmas Eve and I hate that, so I tell everyone it's July 22nd and celebrate in summer. It's not like anyone's going to ask for your birth certificate.

Your brain weighs about the same as your left foot, yet consumes 20% of your overall energy - just to keep you alive.
November 24, 2025 at 10:37 AM
If you find time is speeding up, try something new - a different route home, something you’ve never eaten before, or even brush your teeth with the opposite hand.

This will wake up the brain from its slumber of the same old, same old, which makes time pass quickly.

Introverts make great poker players.

The brain uses a lot of energy simply to keep you alive.

Tying to be someone that you’re not will blow your ‘energy budget’.

The secret to self-development - according to the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen - is to notice where & when you become frustrated and find a strategy to remedy it.

Competent teams value the input from their introverted members.

They have original thoughts and perspectives.

They’re pretty tolerant too.

It’s noticeable then when they withdraw support for another team member. This shift can unbalance the team. Managers need to watch out & remedy this.

Bandwagons are extroverted phenomena.

That’s why you as an introvert will instinctively resist them, but can’t explain why!

Resist trying to become extroverted. Just know when you need to be more vocal and collect effective phrases for those moments.
