This is not exactly a Christmas movie, but its depiction of a woman struggling to survive in a dehumanised worplace in the service of rampant consumerism, set against the kindness and decency of the people she encounters in the outside world, holds out some hope of redemption. Highly recommended.

What on Earth is this? An "in depth" BBC article about free speech in the UK that only cites examples of right-wing/ 'anti-woke' speech being suppressed. How can you mention Lucy Connolly but completely ignore Palestine Action / Just Stop Oil? Gob-smacking. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Have you heard about this, BlueSky chums? It happened in London less than 24 hours ago but AFAIK isn't being covered in the UK news cycle. If you can manage to find the story at www.bbc.co.uk/news or theguardian.com please let me know.

@kermodeandmayo.bsky.social I hope we will be getting a review for 'on falling' this week. A film that charts the disconnect of 21st century life, while exploring humanity throughout. The perfect successor to Laverty, Loach, O'Brien etc. A first feature from director/writer Laura Carreira

This visceral film powerfully depicts the isolation and dehumanisation within the gig economy.

This is a thread about what we could see that our critics could not. 🧵
