Hey, #abpoli, did any of you get a call from the Alberta Govt tonight for the budget 2025 budget town hall with Horner? Cuz they had my number - for reasons that escape me.

Pritzker: "He said he was going after the worst of the worst. It's not going after the worst of the worst when you're just literally stopping children who happen to be brown & asking them for papers as if they're gonna have proof they're a citizen. Pull out your phones and film everything you see"

See how he always calls Black Dems "low IQ"?

Trump: "They've had hundreds of people shot and then a guy like Pritzker or this low IQ mayor gets up -- the people are all against him. Beautiful Black women are wearing a MAGA hat last night on TV. And they said, 'We don't care who comes, just stop the crime.' They don't care if it's military."

They are going to do this. They just want it to be popular first. Which won't be a thing for obvious reasons. But people hating what they want to do has never stopped them for long before.

For the uninitiated: The pope being this direct and explicit to U.S. bishops about how to respond to a domestic policy happening in real time is…unusual.

Pope Leo told U.S. bishops visiting him at the Vatican on Wednesday that they should firmly address how immigrants are being treated by President Donald Trump's hardline policies, attendees said, in the latest push by the pontiff on the issue. For @reuters.com:

The comments on this post are … something. The lack of empathy, political imagination, and strategic thinking is troubling. C’mon folks. Ben points out a vulnerability and lever (the NG troops who could become allies against these deployments) and the replies are like, “Nope. Eff that. Eff them.”

Remember: These are not MAGA stormtroopers. These are everyday teachers and accountants who signed up to serve their country with their spare time. They're being used as political pawns by venal, un-American, draft-dodging president

Rubio claims that blowing up boats is necessary because “interdiction doesn’t work.” But if stopping 19 vessels over seven weeks “doesn’t work,” it’s hard to know what blowing up four more will achieve. wapo.st/4o9ZEVW
Opinion | Trump is turning the ‘war on drugs’ from metaphor into an actual war
Beyond the question of whether blowing up boats off Venezuela is legal, what’s the military objective?

White House officials have held increasingly serious discussions in recent days about President Donald Trump invoking the Insurrection Act, a rarely used 19th century law that gives the president the power to deploy active-duty troops inside the U.S. for law enforcement purposes
Trump administration officials seriously discussing invoking Insurrection Act, sources say
A decision is not expected to be imminent, one source said, but debate within the administration has shifted recently to more deeply exploring how and when the act might be invoked.

Watching the inevitable critics of Carney's performance with Trump today, I am reminded of the two bits of advice I used to give clients: Don't antagonize people who can inflict serious harm on you. Don't start fights with crazy people. There are other routes to success than confrontation. #cdnpoli

My personal take is that Carney isn't any more sexist than any other white guy of his age. He grew up in the same systemic misogyny we all did. It shows here and there. But he's not appointed official anymore. He's an elected one. Anecdotes are starting to pile up.
