Lovely break with my lovely son in the Lakes! Derwentwater was stunning. I was sitting at the Lakeside cafe eating crumpets when I took this picture.

Two very diverse and different gigs last week. Rura at NCEM in York last Sunday and Hope & Social at the Crescent, York last night. Both incredibly enjoyable. And we managed to squeeze in the wonderful Fisherman’s Friends at The Barbican, York last Friday! @mandywest.bsky.social

I still put punctuation in my texts. If it's an 'I', I make sure it's a capital.’ Well said Simon Cowell. And the same applies to the comma and the full stop!

Repeated content can become monotonous, which can dull interest and make even important information seem unexciting.
September 11, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Humans are naturally drawn to new experiences and information. When something is repeated without variation, it fails to provide new stimulation or interest, leading to disengagement.

The ear tends to be lazy, craves the familiar and is shocked by the unexpected; the eye, on the other hand, tends to be impatient, craves the novel and is bored by repetition.

Wow!
My husband, Rob, is away visiting his uncle in Herefordshire. They'd just finished watching the Rugby when this beautiful young Sparrow Hawk flew in through the open front door, and into the living room. Rob managed to pick him up and take him outside again... but just look at those eyes! #birds
