I love birds with fun hairdos. The eye-wattle is really interesting! Almost like a flower or sun. This Long-crested subspecies can be found in western part of its range in Africa.

Nice to do something simpler. I saw 2 species of firetails during my Australia trip, but not these. I wanted to emphasize the bright red rump feathers!

This is the loon I painted with watercolor this past January! I did all the dots by negative painting with no masking fluid. I used gel pen for the Birdtober loon to make my life easier since it's a daily challenge😅 2/2

There are so many green pigeons 🕊️! Which one to pick? I chose the one that worked best for a colorful wash 🎨🌈.

I then went to eBird and looked up JGM and to my surprise, there were no photos! This is partly due to it being recently being a subspecies of "short-tailed magpie" and them being possibly extinct in the wild. 3/3

I accidentally started drawing the wrong type of green magpie at first, and that's because Javan Green Magpies are critically endangered, so other similar-looking not endangered species were showing up on my stock photo searches for references. 2/3
