Political relevance: I couldn't believe how anti-ICE and political NM was? Like I didn't even know shows were allowed to be that political in the US. Kinda prescient, honestly, OG is a bit too out there to be political in any way other than the vaguely metaphorical way aliens are always political

Any creepy inappropriate relationships: OG had the exact number of weird age gap love affairs of that era of CW that you'd expect (like, way way too many) and treated them like they weren't super creepy, NM had none
Government agencies are evil: yes, in any universe

Love stories: NM--honestly there was some kind of angst dial in the OG turned to maximum angst. Like illegal levels of angst. And annoying love triangles? At least people in NM just like confronted each other and said what they wanted.

Liz's dad: NM perfect stunning magnificent--hated him in OG
Rosa/Tess: Rosa like, made the show work. She was wonderful and deep and beautiful. Tess was awful
Lore: OG is better, honestly maybe because there was less of it
Kyle's dad: Better alive
Special effects: Is it wrong to say OG?

Liz: hate Liz (no fault of the actresses) in any universe but NM has a slight edge because at least she's kinda evil/better written
Maria: Love Maria in any universe but OG is slightly better
Isobel: Love both but she's better written in NM
Alex: Epic hatred for NM Alex but love him in OG

Well there is also the problem that people on the internet are so prepared to be outraged and offended that they read everything in the most alarmist way possible which feels like illiteracy but isn’t.
