Chillincook. Huh. That's new to me!

Chezzetcook. Come-from-aways never get the "n" sound.

(Alas, I suspect having been on the West Coast now as long as I have, I might soon qualify as a CFA)

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

BC residents: If you still have your booking link from last year, try and book your flu and COVID shots now. (Last year they didn’t send me a link until October 28!)

I kept getting an ‘error – time no longer available' message, but reopening the booking site did the trick.

It wasn't the erection of the sign, it was paying a third party to erect a sign on his lawn (which wasn't really his lawn, it was outside his fence/gate and questionable which side of the property line it was actually one). If he had printed it himself, he wouldn't have such a big fine. 😐

The way that ebike was being driven through downtown (filtering, speeding (> 32 km/h)) was in no way legal.

There was some terrifying "bike riding" in that video.

I know where you might be able to find some good shoes, as well as someone who could tell you the most appropriate style for your activities.

Wait.

Ah yes. The horn itself is S-shaped and mounted to handlebars. The bell of the horn is the bottom end of the S. That would likely put the ear-splitting sound somewhere near the ears of your littles. 😬

Sigh. Podcast. Not "podcase". Podcast.

One day I'll be able to edit my hastily-typed typo-ridden posts but today is not that day.

Is he ...
* thinking about the fall of the Roman Empire?
* auditioning for a Baz Luhrmann reboot of Indiana Jones?
* about to drop a podcase on emotional redemption and oat milk?
* mentally drafting a post that says 'Capitalism is exhausting'?

The full moon made this mornings commute pretty special. Then light riding through Stanley Park was amazing and the views riding across Lions Gate and Burred bridges were pretty spectacular. You don't get that experience in a car.

Had to stop on my ride to work and capture this morning's sunrise. What a beautiful place we live. #sunrise #vancouver #bikeyvr #VanierPark
The waters of English Bay in Vancouver. There are a handful of boats and ships at anchor. There are tree-covered mountains receding into the background. The clouds in the sky are lit from underneath and are very orange with the light of the rising sun.

Indeed, several people who are familiar with my feelings on the topic have gleefully pointed this out to me. That's probably the reason this McSweeney's is making the rounds again.

For every €1 paid out, they got €1.46 back. UBI works, again. If the BC or Canadian governments want to save some money, here's a good place to start! You'd think the Conservatives would be all over it!

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

We watched the Arrogant Worms play a sold-out show at St James Hall in Kitsilano two years ago. It was a great show!

I have impugned the reputation of the fine residents of Point Grey. I meant the residents of Dunbar and Shaughnessy.

I regret the error.
