yes. the system can never evaluate itself, only the people bound to it, in a kind of invisible unquestionable context

it's always "this student's points are down" "this instructor has low reviews" and never "you should stop using this software"

lately i've been thinking of this as platform logic.

replacing unpredictable human connections with fully controlled, fully visible (to the platform) transactions **is the point of this approach**

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

i think the piece itself is pretty good at distinguishing between the pro-social sense of "we can make different choices"

and the atomizing tech culture sense of "why should i think about how this will affect other people" which is imo absolutely a core part of the dominant ethos
