(and I'm pretty sure any increase in pub productivity will be matched in diminished productivity elsewhere in the economy the following day. It's just a silly argument anyhow. Probably as silly as a universal pub blackout time.)

This may or may not be a good thing- sure it's fine overall. But the fact it's being sold as a great spur to growth is pretty desperate. I mean, pubs struggle to stay open to 11pm let alone later.

(For record though, I love The Harp).

In last week's interview Marc Andreessen blamed government regulation for the cost of healthcare and education.

Couldn't care less about equity of access or quality of professionalism.

These people won't even acknowledge the enormous costs of their ideology. Morons with power.

To say that Sam Altman comes across as superficial, even childlike, in this interview is understanding it.

They discuss massive energy expansion, via natural gas, to power the "biggest infrastructure build ever" without even a mention of climate change.

Not good.

So Kemi Badenoch seemed to start the day as George Osborne and finish it as Liz Truss. Quite the fiscal spectrum she covered.

We advocate globalisation without globalisation.

This is what led to Japan basically offshoring its economy from the 1990s.

I think I finally know who Theresa May was describing when she talked about the "anywheres". And they are all in on the Reform Party.

The irony is that she is one of the people who could absolutely leave him politically flailing here. Good job he's not a direct rival or her strategy would be really dumb.

I particularly love "the problem is carbon not flying". And as for SAF, the economics are currently decidedly dodgy.

At least the Government should be forced into proper policy change before Heathrow gets a green light.

I hope these quotes from aviation industry bigwigs will be front and centre at any forthcoming court case on Heathrow expansion. Shows an industry simply not serious about climate change whatever the PR.

I keep thinking back to the original 1987 Robocop. So much of Trump's America seems to take its script from it.

We've got an ageing society. Come here and help us cope with that. In return, we'll demonise and threaten you and quite possibly leave you destitute. Do we have a deal? Great. 🤝

It's certainly a grim proposition.

It will either be because of illness/disability or caring responsibilities that they don't. And so the impact of this policy on their families could be enormous.
