My short and sweet carrots 🥕 planted this year should be ready to harvest soon. Here’s a carrot I kept in the ground overwinter from last year’s planting. Carrots are biennial, so instead of pulling up all my crop last year, I saved this one so it could go to seed. Soon we’ll have free carrots!

This lovely little blue flower is one of Louisiana’s #nativeplants hairy clustervine. Related to our native morning glories that pop up all over, this one is frequently found in disturbed soils among stream beds or along roadsides 🌱

More edibles #nativeplants this morning! Violet wood sorrel makes lovely purple flowers and is rich in vitamin C. The entire plant is edible with a tart lemony flavor. A friend’s kid calls them “pickle weeds” for their flavor and they’re a favorite in tiny bouquets. 🌱

The debate over the rights of citizens vs. non-citizens entirely misses the point when you look at the actual text of the Constitution and its later amendments. The Founding Fathers already answered this question, and did so in a way that should have spared us all of this wrangling and argument.

People are more comfortable labeling bigots are ignorant than immoral because labeling something immoral requires direct opposition which is uncomfortable.
Ignorance simply requires instruction to be fixed.

Our Brazilian buttonbush attracts lots of pollinators but it can spread easily so we keep it contained in a raised bed. Today it was visited by a female pipevine swallowtail butterfly! 🦋 We have its larval host plant, pipevine, nearby so we will hopefully see the next generation! 🌱 #bloomscrolling
