I simplified the composition a lot along the way, the first draft was far too busy... Here are the small wakas I drew for the background, in the end I only used two of them.

The Ethereal status prevents blocks from interacting with other elements. Without it you could produce as many concept blocks as you want from one original, since Void is so easy to make. It would trivialize the process and effectively remove a mechanic, which isn't what I want.

The new effect:
"If a Void block comes into contact with a concept block, it will transform into a copy of it. Both block will be applied the Ethereal status."

Much easier to explain and clearer visually, while retaining the same purpose of replacing concept blocks.

So, this is how Void blocks used to work:
"Void blocks can replace any other concept block in a recipe, but you still need at least one of the original block. The Void block will have the same effect on the recipe as the block it replaces."

I felt it was confusing.
