I've been rewatching Star Trek the Next Generation lately. I still love it. I've noticed a few recurring themes that pop up. So this will be my thread of common Next Generation plots ... In no particular order ...

Whether AI will ultimately prove useful I have no idea. Still seems a bit shit to me. But I do know that to me it's not worth risking anyone's safety for, let alone everyone's safety.

It feels out of control... Like they're building survival bunkers for themselves while they continue the business that's wrecking our environment, or pushing ahead with that AGI which apparently scares them enough they want survival bunkers.. but none of us get a say in it when it's our safety too?

As an outsider looking in (Brit) yea we occasionally laughed at Bush for some of his howlers, he did at times seem a bit dim.. but yea compared to trump he seems like a towering statesman from some golden era

..how does he know how well or poorly integrated each of the people he saw were? I don't see how he could, seems like a blanket assumption based on the colour of their skin

I heard the clip earlier he sounded such a mess, like the final boss of "I'm not racist but...". Sounded to me like.. I'm not racist BUT... I don't like seeing black or brown faces about the place! He was claiming the black or brown faces he saw weren't integrated and that was his problem.. but

I used to love that as a kid. I remember watching one where he claimed he could do almost anything with a paperclip, and so I ended up taking a paperclip around with me wherever I went
