Three screenshots from #StarTrek #StarTrekTNG. In the first, Worf and K'ehleyr are standing at a doorway. Through it, we can see the Enterprise's nursery playroom, in particular their son Alexander, although all of this is out of focus, mind you. K'ehleyr tells Worf, "I'm leaving you, and I'm taking our son with me." The second shot focuses on Worf. He says, "Thank you." The final is a reaction shot from K'ehleyr who is not one bit amused.

Re: SpyFi mentioning that the original #BSG ended with the Colonials receiving a transmission of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The idea had been for the Galactica to find a future Earth rather than the one in 1980.

We start off with two screenshots from #StarTrek #StarTrekTOS, first up a bridge sht across the front console, showing Chekov and Sulu at their stations, the red alert light is on. Kirk is in his chair, hand to his mouth, as he is parsing the situation. A tiny caption, presumably from the original shot, says, "Unknown vessel, this is the Earth starship Enterprise. Please respond." The big caption has Sulu say, "Captain, there's a ship ahead." Kirk says, "Open a channel, Lieutenant." The next shot moves in and to the side, so we now see Kirk standing beside his chair but also Uhura at her console, declaring, "Channel open, sir." Kirk says, "Unknown vessel, this is the Earth starship Enterprise. Please respond." The role of traditional media in normalizing the far right cannot be understated -- across a lot of the Western world, from the US to the UK, to France, to Germany. Worst of all that public newscasters are as guilty as private ones.

When you draw a platoon leader like Hegseth, it’s your worst nightmare. You just ride it out until he’s gone and gets replaced by someone who isn’t a complete jackass. Only a fool like Trump would put one of them in charge of the entire defense department.

It’d be exciting to think that Bluesky has people pretending to be American like Twitter but I honestly don’t think they could talk about Star Trek Deep Space 9 the way it’s expected here without having watched all the episodes a dozen times
