When I was a kid, around 1,800,000 people died every year of tuberculosis. Now, around 1,250,000 do.

That's important progress. But at this current rate, it'll take a CENTURY to push TB deaths much below 500,000 per year. That's totally unacceptable for a curable, preventable disease.

Brains are funny.

I can remember every word to a song I haven't heard in 20 years but I've got no clue what my email password is.

Just seen someone has added feathers to the Jurassic Park Velociraptors to make them more accurate but I think the film got it right, as being bred and kept in captivity would probably have made them pull all their feathers out like a depressed parrot in a cage.

There are no rules in this no man’s land between Christmas & New Years.

Read all night! Don’t finish a book! Read three books at once!

Just go nuts.

look I don't think anyone needs to emerge from the womb knowing the plot of the Iliad/Odyssey, but I also think being familiar with the old stories is a really vital part of engaging with society, knowing that Paris chooses The Hottest Woman In Greece over wisdom or thrones is Humanology 101

I have always loved public libraries, but having young children has exponentially increased my gratitude and sense of indebtedness to them. Our local library is such a huge part of our lives. The books, the programming, the very intentionally curated kids’ section. It’s all such a gift.

*Steps on to archivist soapbox, taps microphone*

The biggest lie you can tell yourself is "I'll remember."

No. You won't.

Write down/add metadata about who/what/where/when. Put a year on EVERYTHING.

Now is a great time to group project this with family!
